- secluded divine -

Where is the point of no return?
When do you have to force yourself to push on?
When does every inch start to feel like an effort?
Where will you stop and where will you forge on?
When you realize paradise is in front of your face.

'I finally made it. This was the third attempt to make it up to this waterfall. The first one, we just had to hike another 25 minutes...and we would have been there. The second one, the trail was closed because a climber had fallen down one of the steep cliffs and was critically injured. The third attempt took 4 1/2 hours. That's 6 miles up to the fall and 6 miles back, along steep cliffs, winding rocky trails and other waterfalls. It was hot and dry when we started at 6:00. It was around 8:30 when we finally reached this amazing fall. "Tunnel Falls". This is the Columbia River Gorge, it has the highest concentration of waterfalls in the world, tons of lava tubes and hundreds of miles of hiking trails. At this point along Eagle Creek trail, we are 6 miles up the trail at about 2,000 feet. The falls fall 200 ft into the huge pool of water below. Behind the falls is a tunnel that has been blasted out! It is incredible and really made me proud to have made it up that far. I was NOT going to let myself down again, I hiked my tripod, camera, jacket (that I never needed), food, and water all the way up there. It was all worth it. I wasn't going to go away without getting a good shot of this amazing fall. Not very many people go up this far, people usually turn around at "Punchbowl Falls" which is about 3 miles into Eagle Creek. Getting back down in the dark was a challenge. We got off the trail at 10:24 and it was pitch black. We were the only crazy people hiking that dangerous trail at that time of night.'

I think this shot really shows a lot about what everyone wants to experience and reach, but not everyone can. It's hard to push further and further. But once it's reached it's worth it, it's just about having enough energy and motivation to make it back.

Nature has a funny way of secluding the most beautiful parts, but you broke through the defense system even though you had to work hard for it ... but it paid off. Stunning, almost divine :-)

Oh god I love waterfalls.

This shot is wonderful, Aaron! I love the contrast of the blue and white of the falls, and the green of the moss and the leaves of the cliff frame it nicely. Beautiful piece. Will most likely want the print of this one too.

Thank you very much. It was worth hiking that far to get this shot. My whole body still aches, but I had to get that shot of the whole thing.

Interesting thing about this picture...it's two pictures. Now, you can't tell at all...because I used this $400.00 software to stitch the two image together. The software put it's logo on my image too, but I got rid of that very easily, which you can't tell either.

I'm glad you like this shot, and I have already submitted a panoramic and regular print of this piece @ 150 DPI with a maximum of 24x36!

Enjoy!

it was amazing rounding the corner and hearing the rush of water just pouring off the huge cliff. I felt so small in that canyon. It really was a paradise. I had my shirt off and got soaked walking under the tunnel and by the falls. It was refreshing. I managed to keep my camera lens nice and clean and got a couple of great shots of this beauty.

Oh wow, it's really two pictures merged into one? I couldn't even tell. ^_^ Huzzah! It's very pretty and I know the feeling of having to hike to get pictures... @o@;

At least you know you're getting your money's worth for the software! :D :D

Yah, I hope so!

This isn't the first time I've hiked to get a great shot of a fall or some other natural beauty though. I always bring my tripod because the beauty just can't be captured in under 1/30th of a second.

:-) Did you buy the "Paradise Emergence" piece?
