Description

- last train home -

Beauty.
Elements of this magnificent world combined.
The trains metallic sounds stands out against the quiet night.
The noise is nothing compared to it's beauty when caught in a long stare.

a simple glint
by Justin Patterson hippified320

There was something underneath that hue,
a melody,
a saturated vibrance that called from
the tracks and dulled the shine of stars
Some anomoly that carried for miles;
And there was everything on that crescendo,
but time refused to fade it,
instead there were only three beats left,
the last one blurred and I was free

'For me, this shot says so much. It says a lot about photography, this area, nature, beauty, tones, and even this website. Photography isn't something that can just be 'learned', photography comes naturally, you have no be able to see a scene in your head before you even take a shot. You have to see the lines, the lights, the movement and the emotion. You have to guess what is going to happen and what might not. This scene was shot in almost complete darkness, it was literally a (excuse the pun) 'shot in the dark'. After I looked at some of the shots, I was very surprised to see that this was one of the first shots and that everything was perfect. I noticed that every little tone was captured and this image holds so many different tones and lights. The different surfaces reflected every little light and in turn, conveyed this amazing scene back to me. This area is actually "off limits", but that really didn't matter. It says a lot about the security around this area, considering that my friend and I were both just up on those tracks when a cop drove by...a minute later a train came, followed by a second going the opposite direction...at the same time they crossed paths here. Down by the Columbia River. That tree over there, has probably been there for at least a few hundred years. Seen a few wars, watched the historic Fort Vancouver be built and a city spring up around it. For me, this shot also says that the outdoors holds much more beauty than any indoor train shot could ever hold. This image has emotion and in turn...that is beauty.'

I really didn't edit this shot very much. But the possibilites were endless, every little adjustment brought out another color a different feeling and tone. It was really amazing to edit this shot.

Most of all, I've had this image on my harddrive for quite awhile. I haven't posted it because I was "worried" of how it would be accepted. I have many different styles and techniques in what I do. I hope that this shot is enjoyed by everyone, just take some time to enjoy this shot.

Enjoy the feeling, enjoy life.
